Lists - Money Saving Ideas

In the interest of my new goals (pay off debt, travel) I have complied a list of money saving items. If I publish them here then I have to stick to them right? In order to remain accountable I will give updates.
  1. Get rid of home phone line
  2. No more grocery shopping at Target
  3. Cut up Gap credit card (this will be hard)
  4. Start shopping at Aldi more
  5. Try to going participate in 1 social outing every other week (or once a week at max)

Things I have already done:
  1. Bought reusable microfiber towels to replace paper towels in kitchen
  2. Bought reusable water bottles
  3. Started utilizing the library
  4. Take my lunch to work

QUESTION: Ideas anyone? What has helped you save money?

  1. Those are good ones. Where did you find the towels? I'm terrible with paper towels...I use sooo many. I used to do pretty good with only going to target/walmart once a month. Just compile a monthly list...you're bound to buy more than you need when you go. If you only go once a month, you won't buy as much extra stuff.

OH here's a great one...limit your clothing to places like target and Kohl's. $80 for a cardigan...or $15 at target. Think about it.

  2. I actually found the towels at Aldi but I think you could probably get them at Walmart or Target. Good point on the clothing. However, in some cases the more expensive clothing last longer and therefore is a better investment. You are probably right though...I could cut back on clothes :)

But do you really want to wear it for 10 years? It won't be in style then. :P I get sick of clothes after 2 years. So the cheaper clothing works out for me. And another point...will you actually stop buying clothes at some point...b/c you will have all of your expensive clothes that last forever? :P

P.S. I love your previous post about travel. I think it's good that you never feel completely fulfilled...that way you are always trying new things. :)
